Brief description of study

This is a study of 12 subjects with cirrhosis. Blood is collected at CHPS for metabolomic analysis and MMTT. The meal consumed for MMTT will be a convenience-style breakfast. In addition to research testing on blood, urine, and stool, dietary recalls and the Penn Diet Survey will be conducted. The purpose of this study is to assess the dynamic endocrine and metabolomic response to food in cirrhosis and how this compares to healthy individuals. 

Detailed description of study

We are recruiting individuals with a diagnosis of cirrhosis, no diagnosis of diabetes, and who are not on diuretics or lactulose/rifaximin.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Liver Disease,Cirrhosis
  • Age: 1 years - 75 years
  • Gender: All

Diagnosis of cirrhosis
No diagnosis of diabetes
Not on diuretics or lactulose/rifaximin
