Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness and implementation of two suicide prevention strategies for autistic youth: the Safety Planning Intervention tailored for Autistic individuals (SPI-A) and SPI-A plus follow-up care (SPI-A+). Participants are 150 clinicians and 1500 autistic youth (ages 15-24) who receive either SPI-A or SPI-A+ from a front-line clinician. Patient will complete 1-, 6-, and 12-month follow-ups. recruitment is happening at four specific health systems: · Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, PA · Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, MD · Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH · The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC Within these health systems, participants will be recruited from a range of clinical settings that commonly serve autistic youth at risk for suicide, including neurodevelopmental diagnostic clinics, primary care clinics, and medical specialty clinics. To be included, participants must have received a safety plan tailored for autistic youth during a clinical visit at one of the four systems mentioned above.
