Brief description of study

This study will look at ways that depth sensors could be used to understand one’s fall risk. Depth sensors are small tools that can be set up in a room to measure how someone is moving around. We are asking participants to have the sensor installed in their home for 1 year (12 months). We would like to get your thoughts on what you might want to use such a system for, and what would
you would like or dislike about such a system. We will also be visiting you every three months to measure your walking and overall physical function.

Detailed description of study

During the first visit, we will have you perform several screening assessments which may include asking you to walk, sit and get up in order to assess your physical state and gather information about how you walk. After these assessments, the device measuring your walking will be installed. Every 12 weeks a research team member will visit you and ask you to repeat the same assessments. After the 1 year, you will be asked to participate in an interview where a member of the research team will gather thoughts and feelings about the experience.
