Brief description of study
The purpose of this study is to evaluate hip fracture risk among people with CKD (chronic renal disease/chronic kidney disease) using a new, MRI-based approach.
Detailed description of study
If you are eligible (see additional information below), you will come in for 1 or 2 study visit(s), including in total:
- One 40-minute MRI exam
- One 20-minute DXA exam
- One blood draw
Compensation will be provided.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Chronic Kidney Disease,Chronic Renal Disease,Renal Disease,Kidney Disease,CKD

Age: 21 years - 100 years

Gender: All
We are looking for males and females who have stage 4 or 5 chronic renal disease (CKD), WITHOUT history of dialysis.
You may be eligible if you:
- are at least 21 years old and
- have CKD stage 4 or 5.
You are NOT eligible if you:
- have had an organ transplant,
- have diabetes,
- have had a hip fracture or hip surgery,
- are undergoing dialysis, or
- are pregnant.
