Brief description of study
This study is being conducted to learn more about how opioid use and opioid overdose affects tau levels in the brain. Tau is a protein in the brain that helps stabilize nerve cells structure. We will study tau levels in the brain using a type of Positron Emission Tomography (PET/CT) scan using a radioactive imaging drug called [18F]PI-2620.
If you agree to join the study, you will be asked to complete the following research procedures:
• A consent/screening visit with a medical history questionnaire, routine blood work, a urine drug screen, psychological assessments, and questionnaires to determine eligibility.
• [18F]PI-2620 PET/CT of the brain
• Placement of an intravenous (IV) line during the scan.
• Blood draws for research inflammatory markers or other testing.
• An MRI scan of the brain, which includes a structural scan of the brain and performing a memory task in the scanner.

Your active participation will last approximately 8 weeks.
There
will be three groups of up to 20 participants each:
- Group 1: individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and a history of at least one opioid-related overdose in the past year that required naloxone treatment reversal
- Group 2: individuals with OUD without a lifetime history of opioid-related overdose
- Group 3: Healthy controls without a history of OUD
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Opioid Use Disorder,opioid use,opiate use,overdose,healthy volunteer
-
Age: 18 years - 60 years
-
