Research Study on Whether Semaglutide Works in People With Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH)

Brief description of study

Semaglutide is a medicine studied in patients with NASH. Semaglutide is a well-known medicine, which is already used by doctors to treat type 2 diabetes in many countries. Participants will need to inject themselves with medicine under the skin. Participants will need to do this once a week. The study will last for about 5 years. Participants will have up to 21 clinic visits and up to 9 phone calls with the clinical staff during the study. Some of the clinic visits may be spread over more than one day. Women cannot take part in the study if they are pregnant, breast-feeding or plan to become pregnant during the study period.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis,NASH
  • Age: 18 years - 99 years
  • Gender: All

Male or Female, Age 18 or older, Histological evidence of NASH

The purpose of this research study is to learn about whether a study medicine works in adults with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

Participants will inject themselves with the study medicine under the skin 1 time each week. Participants will have clinic visits and phone calls with the study staff during the study. Some clinic visits may take more than 1 day.

Who can participate:
Adults with NASH may be able to participate if they:

  • Are age 18 or older
  • Have NASH confirmed by a liver tissue test (biopsy)

Study timeline and visits:
Participation lasts about 5 years. There will be up to 21 clinic visits and up to 9 phone calls.
