Tobacco Product Advertising Study

Brief description of study

The University of Pennsylvania's Tobacco Use Research Center is recruiting young adults between the ages of 21-29 who use or have previously used cigarettes and other tobacco products for a research study evaluating reactions to tobacco product advertising.

This is not a quit smoking study.

Detailed description of study

During this study, participants will be asked to attend both a virtual interview and in-person visit at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Nicotine Addiction (CIRNA), also known as the Tobacco Use Research Center, at Penn Medicine. Eligible participants will complete one virtual session and one in-person visit, each lasting no more than one hour. Sessions will be scheduled Monday through Friday during business hours (8am-6pm) only. Participants will be compensated $50 for their time and effort at the end of the in-person visit.

There is no direct benefit to participation. However, participation could help us understand how tobacco product advertising influences product perceptions, which has an indirect benefit. In the future, this may help regulatory agencies restrict false or misleading advertising features.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: nicotine,smoking,tobacco
  • Age: 21 years - 29 years
  • Gender: All
